The Trowbridge Fundraising Branch is very fortunate to have over 30 additional volunteers who are happy to give up their time to help "man the buckets" when we hold collections at local supermarkets.
Maureen Slater is Collections Co-ordinator for the branch, and carries out a sterling job of contacting supermarkets across the catchment area of Trowbridge, Westbury, Warminster, Frome, Melksham and Bradford on Avon, to request collection days. Once successful and a date has been issued, Maureen contacts our pool of volunteers to manage the rotas ensuring we have sufficient cover.
Getting permission to collect at a store can be quite time consuming, and with so many other worthwhile charities also requesting collection pitches, there is a lot of competition. However, in the 12 months to April 2019, Maureen has been able to organise 10 Store collections, totting up a total of 160 man hours from our amazing troop of volunteers, helping to raise an incredible £3,899.32 for the Cancer Unit.
We were also proud to show off our new collection station, which was funded by a very generous supporter of the charity in October 2018.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the supermarkets who so graciously host us each year, to our many volunteers who give up their time to support us and of course to the amazing shoppers across the region, who so generously donate to our charity.
If you would like to get involved in this aspect of our fundraising, even if you only have a few hours a year to spare, please do email Maureen (firstname.lastname@example.org) who would love to hear from you.
