Visit of Mary Berry

Mary Berry, who has recently been named “Oldie of the Year” at a ceremony in London is lending her support to Bath Cancer Unit Support Group’s £1.2million Positron Scanner Appeal and visited the Cancer Unit at the Royal United Hospital on Friday 28 February.

Mary, who was brought up in Bath and who trained at the Bath School of Home Economics is, along with her brothers Roger and William committed to ensuring that the Royal United Hospital is able to provide the latest equipment to help those suffering from cancer.

During Mary’s visit she was shown the newest linear accelerator which has been installed at the RUH by Sue MacGregor, Radiotherapy Service Manager, and attended a briefing on the Positron Scanner by Dr Richard Graham Consultant Radiologist and Joint Clinical Lead in Radiology at the RUH.

The acquisition of this scanner is viewed as one of the most significant developments in the treatment of cancer at the RUH.
