In the last edition of Supportline we asked for volunteers to run the Bath Half in support of our Positron Scanner Appeal. What a success we had! Twenty three runners completed the Bath Half and raised funds for our Appeal. Sent on their way by Appeal Vice-Patron Don Foster MP, the team from ‘The Hoskins Foundation’ which was set up in memory of Matt Hoskins who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in February of 2013 and who died later that year included former England Rugby Captain Lewis Moody. The Westminster to Bath 1,056 Kilometre (660 miles) Double Challenge In my last newsletter there was an article about the above challenge…I am pleased to say the challenge was a great success and here follows the story of the event. At 1.30 pm on Thursday 12th September Nigel Arbury from Frome set off to walk the 160 miles from the Houses of Parliament to the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath. As Long standing Supporter hangs up Knitting needles Doreen Russell from Frome, is one of our longest standing supporters, having supported the BCUSG since 1993 by selling hand made aprons and knitted children’s & dolls clothes. Doreen recently presented Tino Polledri with a final cheque for £1,400, which brings her total contribution over the last 21 years to in excess of £20,000. Mary Berry, who earlier this year was named “Oldie of the Year” at a ceremony in London visited the Cancer Unit at the Royal United Hospital on Friday 28 February.
