CLIMB IS A THANK-YOU TO HOSPITAL

One year ago,
65-year-old Ken Greedy was fighting for his life after being diagnosed with lung
cancer. The Peasedown St John grandfather of six had to undergo a gruelling
treatment regime, including chemotherapy.
However, when he was given a clean bill of health, he decided that he wanted to
do something to help those who had helped him.
So Mr Greedy, his daughter Gina, his son Kevin and grandson Jamie climbed the
highest mountain in England and Wales, Snowdon, to raise money for the Bath
Cancer Unit at the Royal United Hospital.
"It was all about paying back all the help that I have had and it was
wonderful to have my family supporting me," Mr Greedy said.
He initially hoped to raise £500 for the unit, but has managed almost to triple
that figure and has raised £1,400.
When asked about the highlights of the trip, Mr Greedy answered: "The
really bad weather made it all the more adventurous.
"When we were nearly at the summit, we were split up by heavy fog - the
visibility was very poor, and it was windy and cloudy.
"It was mad. My daughter was standing 50 yards away from me, and I couldn't
find her."
All went well on the descent, except for Mr Greedy losing the sole of his
walking boot ten minutes from the end.
He would like to thank several people for their support.
They include his grandson Jamie, Centurion Coaches, friends and relations,
colleagues at the Bath Press and Laura Vearcombe, who helped organise the
sponsorship.
