Click here to return to top of page CD "Memories" by Don Young - recorded in June 2002 This CD was the idea of the family of Don Young, a man who loved to sing and whose life long dream was to make a record. It was produced with the assistance of Real World Studios, Box, who generously offered Don the use of a studio and technician, free of charge and also donated 60 copies as a starter for this fund raiser. Everyone had a great day and the CD has been a great success with sales world wide and ongoing and has raised monies in the four figure bracket. Don sadly lost his fight with Oesophageal cancer in March of 2003 but no doubt is extremely pleased with the result of all the effort put in to this fund raiser. "Living with Hair Loss"
An apt title, this was filmed here at the R.U.H. with the participation of Cancer patients, Staff and Consultant Oncologist, Dr. Edward Gilby. We have attempted to address the problems and fears encountered by cancer patients in this 30 minute film and feel that patients will derive much comfort from what is depicted.
A brief synopsis :-
We are not alone in considering this to be a useful
aid to concerned cancer patients, almost 200 have been purchased by other
national cancer support groups with the CancerBacup organisation also
having the video in their resource library. Copies are available to purchase
at a cost of £5. this includes P+P and also includes, subject to
availability a free copy of Wiltshire Recipes. If you would like a copy please e-mail info@bcusg.org Click here to return to top of page "Hodgkins with Hope"
The young mother concerned, Madeleine Webber, wrote
this book whilst receiving treatment, not only as tribute to her family,
friends and those involved with her treatment but as an aid to all fellow
sufferers, especially those newly diagnosed and their families. Hodgkin's
with Hope is a short account of Madeleine's experience, from diagnosis
to eventual recovery. It is a cocktail of emotions, with an infusion of
humour, but above all it is a message of hope. If you would like a copy please e-mail info@bcusg.org All proceeds go to Bath Cancer Unit. Click here to return to top of page "A Collection of Recipes from Pewsey Vale" Some Wiltshire recipes, donated by friends and compiled by Janet Burden, with illustrations by Clair Dunsby.

Fund Raising Branch Chaired by Tino Polledri he can be contacted on : Tel.No. 01225 768202: Trowbridge & District Committee – is one of the Bath Cancer Units three formal group committees. Its inaugural meeting was in April 1988 when Charles Thompson, our then Chairman of the Cancer Unit Support Group, outlined the activities and aims of the Bath Support Group. A committee of 10 was formed that evening with the first meeting taking place the following month, 17th.May 1988, some of those present then, still serve today. Our present Chairman, Tino Polledri, a local businessman, was involved in the initial formation and has been in office since June 1989. Basil
Pursall took on the mantle of Treasurer in that year and the then Hon.
Secretary, June Dallimore was in post until 1993 when due to business
and health reasons handed the role on to the present Hon Secretary, Jeanne
Ingham-Law. Basil has recently decided to put his Accountants Hat away,
but will stay on the committee and assist in its fund raising and no doubt
keep a friendly helpful eye on his successor, Carole Silver. |
